Chapter Three: The Creatives

Chapter Three: The Creatives:
Chapter Three brings together a collective of creatives who move fluidly between disciplines — podcast hosts, a model and creator, the interior designer behind our stores, an artist, and the founder of the PR firm we proudly work with. Each one lives and works in denim, weaving it into their daily rhythm.
Bobby Clarke, Artist
How does denim fit into your creative life, whether in the studio or beyond?
I love denim. Is there anything sexier than well worn denim? I love wearing denim in the studio. I've always had overalls or boyfriend cut relaxed, well-worn jeans for painting. My last pair literally ripped right off me. If I find really good denim, I will often buy two of the same item. One for every-day and one for the studio. You feel more 'dressed' in denim, it makes me feel more tailored if I'm having a lazy day. You still look put together if you pull on your relaxed jeans even if you can't face getting dressed properly for the day...like today. Even your old daggy t-shirt looks cool with the right jeans.

Which Henne denim fit feels most like you?
Rosalba and Zeva have my name written all over them. I’m an oversized and slouchy girly, the baggier, the better. I love how low slung the Rosalba jean is, especially when I want to channel my inner Y2K era. The Zeva jean is the best of both worlds. Slightly higher rise to nip in the waist, and a cocoon leg which channels the barrel in a more wearable way.

In your eyes, what makes the perfect denim piece?
Comfort and versatility are non-negotiables for me when it comes to selecting my denim staples. I always want my denim to move with me, not against me and strike that sweet spot between effortless and elevated. The perfect pair of denim is one that can fit into your lifestyle, not just deliver the look.

What role does denim play in your on-mic wardrobe?
I think I speak for all of us when I say denim is the anchor of a lot of our recording day outfits. It’s a reliable staple to build around and gives a lot of flexibility to be dressed up or down which you may notice in our weekly mirror selfies. Mads has famously told me the Valentina’s are comfy enough to wear on a flight, I’m yet to test out that theory but I can vouch that they are very comfy when we’re sitting in the studio yapping.

How does your busy lifestyle as a business owner, and a mum, inform the way you wear denim?
Denim has to work hard for me. It needs to be durable, flattering, and easy to elevate with a blazer or tee. I’m often bouncing from the office to a shoot to soccer pick-up, so I need pieces that move with me and don’t need overthinking.
Which Henne denim piece could take you from desk to dinner without missing a beat?
The Rory Jean in black. It’s that perfect base you can dress up or down - just add a heel and you’re good to go. Gone are the days of stuffy dress codes. I love that denim can feel just as sharp and polished as tailoring now.

What’s your go-to denim look for castings or off-duty days?
My go-to denim look for running around on my days off will always be a slouchy black jean and black tank top. Life with a toddler is demanding I wear more and more black to conceal the inevitable stains and spills that come with the territory.
How have you been styling denim during pregnancy?
I have worn denim almost every day while pregnant! I’ve stolen and styled my husband’s jeans (lol), but for the most part I’ve been loyal to my favourite jeans and have worn them unbuttoned to make room for my growing belly!
